Aromatherapy, Energy and Massage, Oh My!

It’s been a busy week for me.    We had a wonderful couple in for a massage on Wednesday…she had cute flip flops with white ribbons on them for her wedding!  It’s still early in the season, so I’ve had a few slow days, massage-wise.  That gives me time to look at my to-do list and study new things.  This week I started working on my Foundation level Aromatherapy Certification.  Although I’ve taken a few workshops on aromatherapy and have done a great deal 0f self-study, I felt like it was time to get “official” certification.  The first few assignments are just to smell my essential oils and try and come up with a description of their qualities.  I’ve found this challenging because my verbal side of the brain has a hard time coming up with words to describe the aroma qualities that I am smelling.  I wonder if there is a list out there with good words to describe smells.  I’m sure there is, but the instructor for this class wants us to find our own words.  Like I said — it’s a challenge.   After this I get to categorize the oils and try and find common characteristics of oils in the same functional group, family, etc.  What I’m really looking forward to is the projects…I get to do 25 projects mixing up “potions” with my oils.  If I keep at it, I should be able to finish the course in 2 months, and then move on to the Advanced Level.

When I’ve not been massaging or studying aromatherapy, I’ve been reading.  I got five books last week on reading and interpreting human energy fields.   I’ve been doing energy work for a couple of years, and I’ve gotten fairly proficient at feeling disruptions in the energy field.  I can see auras at times, but not always.  And I still don’t see colors very often.  These books have exercises to improve your ability to see and interpret auras, as well as (I love it) scientific explanations of how this all happens.   I’ve been doing some of the exercises, and I think that I am going to see my ability to see and interpret auras improve.  And if I don’t get a lot better, at least I will have a lot more information on human energy fields and how they work.  I’ll share more information about the books and what they tell me as I finish reading them.

It looks like we finally have some beautiful weather here in the Ozarks.  I woke up to fresh air and sunshine and things turning green after yesterday’s rain.  I’m looking forward to seeing everyone as they visit Eureka this spring.
