    Treatment for shoulders and arms

Today I went to a continuing education class at Northwest Arkansas School of Massage here in Eureka Springs.  I spent 6 hours learning techniques for working on arms and shoulders, and specific techniques for carpal tunnel syndrome.  Got some bodywork done on myself, too, which was great.  One of the coolest things was that one of our students was an 89-year-old man who had been doing massage therapy for 40 years.  Although he is pushing 90, he worked along with the rest of us.  He told us that he had seen natural healing methods work many times in his life when allopathic physicians had given up hope.  He reported using massage techniques on a client with Multiple Sclerosis.  After several months of treatment, the physicians could find no sign of disease.  He reported working with hydrotherapy on his wife when she had congestive heart failure, resulting in significant improvement in her condition.  He spoke of the naturopathic principle that nobody can “heal” you.  Only your body can heal itself.  As therapists, our only function is to provide the tools your body needs to aid it in its healing process.   I was so impressed to hear someone with so much experience speak of the successes that occur when the Universal Power and a natural healer work together.

How Holistic Health saved my life!

I’m horrible with dates so Martha if I am wrong about them well I just
am. In 2001 I was diagnosed with Psoriatic, Rheumatoid and Osteo
Arthritis. In addition I was suffering terribly from back pain and functional
loss of my hands due to a severe accident some 20 years earlier.

My family physician referred me to a surgeon to correct my back problems in
2002 and I had another operation on my neck in 2003. After the operations I
began taking pain meds and came to rely on their affects complicating an already
    bad situation.

As I healed from the operations the reality of the arthritis started to set
in. It became difficult to walk because my ankles and knees were hurting
terribly. My hands hurt so bad that most days I couldn’t even close them
tightly. I felt that I had a wheelchair in my not so distant future. So I
sought a Rhuematologist. I am sure that I found the most arrogant
Rhuematologist in Louisiana. He actually told me he would “cure” me!
His words not mine. And of course being desperate I bought into it.

This “Doctor” started me on two different drugs neither of which
was successful. Then he started me on a third that contained all of the same
drugs as most Chemotherapy drugs. After starting this drug the pain got worse
and was mostly unbearable, I was sick to my stomach, my hair thinned, in short
    I was miserable.

As time went on my gate became very jerky, my hands were withering and my
muscles atrophied from inactivity, I had balance problems from my ankles being
so stiff. It was painful to sit, stand, walk or lie down for extended periods
so I had to keep moving which was affecting my sleep patterns. I became
increasingly crabby, withdrawn and I absolutely snapped at the ones I loved for
the least thing. So I sought a second opinion.

I then met a great Doctor at LSU health clinic in New Orleans. He not only
told me that we would try new newer generation meds but that I should feel free
to try folk remedies and perhaps a natural diet.

Martha my beautiful wife (Ancient Paths Holistic Healing) saw an opportunity
for our family to go “organic” and we did. As time passed it became
evident that the medications would have limited effect and then quit working
altogether. So I told my trusted Doc that I would not be taking any more
medications for the Arthritis. He was very supportive and took a subordinate
roll as my health care provider and began a program of monitoring my blood for
changes in RA levels and watched the markers for the Psoriatic arthritis in my
    blood.

Through this entire ordeal of being a guinea pig for experimental drugs the
one thing that remained constant was my/our organic diet. Gradually I began to
see marked improvement in the mobility of my hands, my knees were less tender,
and my ankles became almost pain free (but damaged from the fusing of the
bones) It was nothing short of amazing to see these changes in myself. Seeing
gradual relief from the affected parts of my body and with a little added
activity each day I was becoming stronger again.

At this point Martha decided to attend Clayton College and study Naturopathy
to see if she could further help me. Talk about ultimate love! She did this for
me! What a sacrifice on her part to add college courses to an already busy
schedule. As Martha progressed in her studies she added various essential
herbs, the right foods, vegetables and oils to our diet, we watch for food
ingredients that would be harmful to us. The result? I continue to see my
    health improve.

I am happy to say now that I am an active individual again. I have started
working (sort of) I build wind chimes and have been selling them at our Sunday
Market and consigning them in the gift shops around town.

I still occasionally need a down day to recover from overextending myself
but I the whole key seems to be that I can be active again. If you think
Holistic healing is a joke JUST STOP! Do some research, find out about it, have
a consultation with Martha. She was able to help me from my terrible downhill
slide perhaps she can help you?
